Help:Spoilers

As a portal to the various Battlestar Galactica series, this site may use information considered "spoilerific" in nature.

[edit] Definition of a "Spoiler"

In fandom parlance, a "spoiler" is one or more pieces of information that may spoil the user's interest in an ongoing series, such as divulging future plot points or new facts about previously established characters.

To a new viewer of any Battlestar series, everything is considered a spoiler. However, since this site exists as an repository of fan creationism and general portal to Battlestar on the internet, we are not here to protect new viewers from information, primarily because such a feat is impossible.

Therefore, out of necessity, a "spoiler" has been redefined as being one or more pieces of information from an episode that has yet to air anywhere in the world, regardless of their perceived size or impact.

Thus this spoiler policy protects viewers familiar with the series who do not want to be exposed to information from episodes that have not had a first airing.

[edit] Avoiding spoilers

If you find that you have an adverse reaction to spoilers, look for this tag on the top of any page.

This page contains possible spoiler information!
This page contains spoilers regarding an unaired episode or published work, which may have an effect on your viewing. Please DO NOT read any content from this article if you wish to avoid knowing events before they are aired or published.

If you find that this is present, you should not read any further. Simply press the back button or click the Main Page button on the side.

[edit] What to do if a spoiler has gone AWOL

If you find that a spoiler isn't encased in the proper tags, then you can take it upon yourself to use spoiler tags.

Typically, any page that contains a spoiler should be tagged with the {{spoiler}} tag, which should be placed on the very top of the page.

As a second level of protection, you can encase the item in {{spoiltext}} (for paragraphs) and {{spoilli}} (for bulleted items).

Of course, please keep in mind how Battlestar Pegasus defines spoilers as being content from episodes not yet aired (or official content not yet published) anywhere in the world. Once it is aired or released officially, it is no longer considered a spoiler from Battlestar Pegasus's point of view.
