Help:Redirect

Redirects are means to lead users to an article, regardless of whether or not they misspelled it.

Let's say you have an article on "Galactica", but know it's commonly misspelled as "Gallactica". Unfortunately, the search feature isn't smart enough to figure out that "Gallactica" is a misspelling and lead the user to the correct article, and so the creation of a redirect is necessary.

[edit] Creating a redirect

To create a redirect to an article, do the following:

  1. Type in the name of the redirect you wish to create in the search box. Press "Go".
  2. In the edit box, type the following syntax:
    #REDIRECT[[NAMEOFARTICLE]]
  3. In place of NAMEOFARTICLE, type the article you wish the redirect to automatically jump to, should the misspelling occur.
  4. Preview the edit by clicking the "Show preview" article to ensure that the link works.
  5. Once done, submit the item by clicking "Save page".
