The proving ground is a place for anonymous users to edit or create articles for Battlestar Pegasus anonymously without having an account.
All pages on the proving ground are prefixed by the Proving Ground: namespace. All pages are also subject to the same policies and guidelines as anywhere else on the site!
[edit] Getting started
If you are an anonymous user who hasn't edited a wiki before, you may want to review the Beginner's Guide.
To begin, do the following:
- Go to Portal:Proving Ground.
- Using the create a page prompt, enter the name of the page you want to create. Do not worry about adding the Proving Ground namespace prefix, this will be done automagically. Press Create Article.
- You will be directed to the editing page. Begin editing.
[edit] Importing pages to the Proving Ground
All pages outside the Proving Ground namespace are not editable by anonymous contributors. However, this doesn't mean you can modify them -- you can "import" them into the Proving Ground namespace via "mirroring" or "substitution".
If you want to edit content on a page that you normally couldn't edit, simply do the following:
- Get the title of the page you want to edit. Do a copy (CTRL-C or Command-C) of the full title!
- Go to Portal:Proving Ground.
- Using the create a page prompt, paste (CTRL-V or Command-V) the name of the page you want to mirror. Do not worry about adding the Proving Ground namespace prefix, this will be done automagically. Press Create Article.
- You will be directed to the editing page. Type in:
-
{{subst:ARTICLE}}
- In place of ARTICLE, paste the article name in there. (Make sure to get rid of the "ARTICLE" part, obviously.)
- Save page.
- Once saved, you should see a copy of the page you've created. The page name on top should read "Proving Ground:" (without the quotes). Click the "edit" tab and begin editing away.
